How to Delete / Uninstall/ Remove Java for Mac, Windows 7, Vista, XP

Per the U.S. government's warning (at Thursday night) to all Internet users of disabling Java temporarily because of the potential hacking attacks, to protect your computer, you can choose either disable Java for all of your browsers, or delete/remove Java completely.

To delete/ uninstall Java from your computer, here's how:

For Windows user, remove Java is the same as you would remove any other software from the computer.

For Windows 7 and Vista - Remove Java

Note: to remove Java, make sure you login to the computer as administrator

 
  1.    Click Start
  2.     Select Control Panel
  3.     Select Programs
  4.     Click Programs and Features
  5.     Select Java by clicking on it, and then click the Uninstall button.
For Windows XP - Uninstall Java 

Note: to remove Java, make sure you login to the computer as administrator  
  1.  Click Start
  2.     Select Control Panel
  3.     Click the Add/Remove Programs control panel icon
  4.     The Add/Remove control panel displays a list of software on your system, including any Java software products that are on your computer. Select Java that you want to uninstall by clicking on it, and then click the Remove button.
For Mac - Remove/ delete Java

Note: To uninstall Java 7, you must have Administrator privileges.

  1.     Click on the Finder icon located in your dock
  2.     Click on Applications tab on the sidebar
  3.     In the Search box enter JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
  4.     This will find the JavaAppletPlugin.plugin file
  5.     Right click on JavaAppletPlugin.plugin and select Move to Trash
