How to Submit Blog Site URL to Bing and Yahoo to Get Indexed ?

Bing is the second largest search engine on the market, which took 26.7% market share in 2011, said by Internet marketing leader comScore. Yahoo is the third largest search engine. Submit your new blog site's URL to Bing and Yahoo will maximum the chance to be exposed to most online users.


How to Submit Your Blog Site to Bing

Similar as submitting a blog/website url to Google as we see in previous post,  there are two ways to submit your blog to Bing & Yahoo, from the submission pages and from the Bing Webmaster Tool.

The submission pages will notify Bing & Yahoo robot to come to your site but does not guarantee every single pages can be found. Therefore submit a Sitemap will help the blog fully indexed.

1. URL submission to Bing and Yahoo

Bing's blog/website URL submission page address is:  http://www.bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url

Yahoo's  blog/website URL submission page is at http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html, it actually redirects users to Bing's submission.

2. Submit blog sitemap to Bing

A. To submit Sitemap to Google, you have to first generate a Sitemap for your site.  The Sitemap can be generated by using Downloadable Sitemap Generator Tools, or Online Sitemap Generators.

Note: If your site is a blog and is on Blogger.com, then you can use your blog site RSS feed as Sitemap. The site RSS feed url format is like: http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

Bing accepts 4 different formats of sitemaps: XML Sitemap, RSS 2.0, Atom 0.3 & 1.0, Text (a plain text file containing one URL per line)

B. Register an account for Bing Webmaster Tool at http://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster , login to it.

C. From Bing Webmaster Tool dashboard, look for the Sitemaps widget, click Submit a Sitemap to show a text box, in which you can enter the location of your sitemap file URL

D. Type in your blog site URL, click Submit.
